  • Stupid WordPress Plugin

    Words can’t start to describe my anger to one specific WordPress plugin right now.  They went ahead and released an update, and it did away with a portion that I was using EXTENSIVELY on a few websites.

    And my sites were all set to auto-update their plugins.

    Long story short, all my custom php code on TRC and a few other sites is gone.  It didn’t just disable it, it removed the crap entirely. I tried rolling back to the old plugin version, but the content was just GONE.

    I had restore TRC’s database back to before the update, and and fast-as-you-can disable the update.  I still need to fix it on the Milo Historical Society site, and in the long-run figure out how to do my code in the new way.

    Not a happy camper.

  • MS Exchange = PURE EVIL

    If there is a group dedicated to seething hatred of Microsoft Exchange, I would like to join.

    I have spent the majority of the last two weeks dealing with a multitude of issues & problems with Exchange servers at work, and I feel like I’ve had enough for a lifetime.

    First I tried to apply a simple update to one server, and it borked itself. Spent over 50 hours restoring the thing from backup, and then days dealing with associated fallout from the failure.

    Then another server decided to go and get itself a virus.  That kept me busy for a day or two just trying to figure out how to fix it (as conveniently the backups had failed for that server).

    It all just made for a really long two weeks. I really hope that was the end of it, I don’t know if my sanity can take much more!

  • AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

    OK, so I just attempted to share a post from a Facebook Page to the TRC Facebook Page.  My account was immediately locked, and I had to answer a bunch of questions to get back in.  And for the 3rd time in a week, the TRC Facebook Page was unpublished.  This is what it keeps telling me:

    It looks like recent activity on your Page doesn’t follow the Facebook Page Policies. If you think your Page was unpublished in error, you can appeal and we’ll take another look.

    I’ve done NOTHING wrong. AT ALL.  HOW is sharing a simple goddamn Facebook post (that was fine on the page it was on) a violation of anything!??

    It happened again.  On Monday, my Facebook account was disabled.  This time, I was an hour and 20 minutes into streaming Minecraft!  I was just shut down out of nowhere.  It messed my stream up, as it kept running for a day before I figured out how to stop it.

    To recap, here’s the short story of whats happened, thus far…

    Nov 27
    My account was mysteriously disabled. The account had been active for well over 10 years, and I had no idea why. I submitted a ticket to have it looked into, and the only response I got was that I had been found ineligible for Facebook, and that due to their policies they couldn’t even tell me WHY.  Also, it was a final decision.  I made a new account under my name, as I was kind of responsible for managing 2 pages and an ad campaign for work.

    Feb 2
    The day after I was laid off from Beal College, my account was disabled again, same story.  I still have a theory this one was triggered by Beal ripping my admin access off of pages, and not removing me from the business manager account.  I submitted another ticket, and decided to wait for a response.

    Mar 20
    After never getting a response, I made a new account with  my name.  I woke up the next morning, not 24 hours later, and the account was already disabled.  This infuriated me. I hadn’t even posted anything, or connected to more than 5 friends.  I waited a few weeks and decided to make a new account using my middle name, Dolan, instead of Barden.  A few days after creation, I was temporarily disabled and had to send them ID to prove I was me.  I did, and a few days later my account was back on.  Everything seemed to be fine finally!

    May 13
    We started our new survival world on Minecraft on May 13, and we were all streaming to Facebook.  About an hour and 20 minutes into my stream, my window suddenly reloaded, stream cut off, and I was disabled yet again.

    I have no idea why any of this is happening to me. I’ve read through their terms four separate times, and I have done NOTHING to violate them in any way.  There is no way to talk to a person, and every time I submit another ticket I get the same “Thanks, but you should go pound sand” response.

    I honestly think I’m done trying at this point…  Which means everyone is going to have to text or call me for communication 🙁

    SIGH.

  • There aren’t words.

    Yesterday, I got brave and decided to make a new Facebook account.  I had been waiting for a month for a reply about my account being disabled, and got nothing. Not a word.

    So I made the new account.  Added it to my pages, and sent a bunch of friend requests.  I got up this morning to find it had already been disabled, with no rhyme nor reason, yet again.

    I’m so sick of this 🙁  I did nothing wrong… And I need Facebook to run pages and communicate with people. I just don’t get this!

    I’ve submitted yet another new ticket using a form hadn’t seen before. We’ll see how that goes. If that doesn’t get me anywhere, I found a website that lists contact info for several higher-ups in the company. It suggested emailing them one by one to see if you can get a response.  I may look into that…

    I’m also contemplating trying again, using a different name.  Sigh.

  • Life Without Facebook

    It sucks.  I’m still fuming over this whole goddamn mess.  My account was disabled for no reason, and I’ve gotten nothing back yet. I’ve read the Terms 3 times, and I’ve done NOTHING to violate them.

    I don’t even care that my account is gone.  What has me the most pissed off is that all my websites are now unable to post to Facebook as they were configured, as my account was used to authenticate.  I even have a slew of Facebook pages that I have NO idea how I’m going to get admin access back into.  The pages I was the only admin are naturally gone, but the TRC ones are still alive. Problem is, I was the only admin, the other users were only Editors – which mean nobody can add a new admin.  I’m fucking stumped.

    I keep looking online for some help or guidance, and all I find is horror stories of how people never heard back from Facebook and ended up making new accounts.

    I’m fine and dandy with this, but I still have the issue of the orphaned Facebook Pages.  I don’t know what to do 🙁

    The saddest part of this all is that my account has been gone for nearly 2 days, and only ONE of my friends has even noticed.  And he only noticed, as I was his recovery email. When he logged in, it told him he had to choose a new recovery email and he got worried something had happened to me.

    Where the hell are the rest of you?!  I’m also irritated that a slew of cell numbers I have for people are apparently not up to date 🙁

    To make a long story short, life fucking sucks right now.  My websites are fucked, and I have no means of communicating with practically ANYONE.  Merry Fucking Christmas everyone.
