Curses! Foiled again.

Damn you Interwebs!!

It would appear in the process of upgrading the TRC Forums, that I umm errr may have killed it.  I was running the upgrade script… and well, it locked up.  I’ve never really seen a php script do that before.  Its befuddling.

Luckily, I backed it all up before I started.  Now I get to upload it allllll over again.  Sigh.

Forum Madness

by on Dec.21, 2011, under TRC

Ok, thats it.  I’ve had two users with password issues with the TRC Forum in two days, and it gave me an insane run around while trying to login as admin.  Its getting an upgrade.  I was hoping to hold this off until my big TRC overhaul (that is slowly in the works), but I guess it can’t wait.  Hopefully this update will fix things.

The first step towards insanity

by on Oct.31, 2011, under Ramblings, TRC, WayFar

Halloween 2011 (Mike got me a pirate bandana in Bermuda!)

Insanity is a fun place.  I like to vacation there from time to time.  It has recently come to my attention, that I have been away for too long. A month or two back, I started some discussions with my good friend Jeremy/Remy/JJ/Jage/Whatever about a massive update / overhaul to the TRC Website.  Since then, I’ve been too dang busy to really put any thought into it.

<dramatic pause>

Until now. (this is where the insanity comes in)

I started thinking about this project again today.  Its something that really needs to be done, quite honestly. TRC was designed over 10 years ago, and since then its only had some minor updates, additions nailed onto the side, and a few new coats of paint.  We once attempted to rebuild it from the ground up. Well, we DID, but it didn’t look any different.  We kept the same look, just cleaned up all the code, which was still outdated.  Now, the site is horribly old, clunky, and outdated.  It needs more than just a facelift.

So, we’re going to do some stuff.  There is a lot in the works. I can’t even figure out how much quite yet, but its staggering.  Right now, I have one major dilemma staring me down.  Separate domains or sub-domains.  Right now, we got several domains.  trcmaine.org, milohistorical.org, threeriversnews.net, and milo.lib.me.us.  We’re already looking at one new domain.  www.threerivers.me  Isn’t it shiny?  My dilemma is whether to keep all the separate domains, or just move them to say news.threerivers.me, milolibrary.threerivers.me, so on and so forth.

Opinions?  Please?

And yes, its a completely unrelated photo.

Milo Webcam Update

by on Oct.02, 2011, under TRC

I attempted to splice the network cable to fix the Milo Webcam yesterday. It didn’t work :(  We’re going to have to replace the entire cable.  I’m hoping we can get it done next Monday, Columbus Day, as I will be in town anyways.

Watch here for more updates once I know what is going on.

The State of Seth

by on Sep.26, 2011, under Daily Recap, Ramblings, Town Criers

Had a pretty lazy weekend. Didn’t accomplish all too much.

Today on the other hand, was productive. I cleaned the rest of the car. Only have vacuuming left to do. I also cleaned my bedroom and setup the new nightstand my dad painted for me.

I’m mostly proud the car is clean. Its been awhile… now, I need to motivate myself to scan some Town Criers. I took last week off, and need to get back into the routine.

Massive changes are in the planning stages for TRC…  New domain, complete restructure, and design overhaul.  I’ve gotten some help, and we’re gonna do things right :)  More to come…
