Box #1 is scanned!
by Sethen on Sep.04, 2010, under Town Criers
I finished up Volume 3 (1964) today. All of the first box is scanned. I now need to exchange it for Box #2, and hopefully I can get into a groove and pump these things out.

Random Update
by Sethen on Aug.28, 2010, under Town Criers
Only 5 more issues left in the first box! I’ve found quite a few missing in volume 3. Onto volume 4 soon!
I’m thinking of contacting the Guilford Historical Society (if they have one). The volume I’m finishing up has a lot guilford news, think they might be interested to know its getting scanned.

The Town Crier Project
by Sethen on Aug.02, 2010, under Town Criers
A few months back, I started undertaking the immense project of scanning in all of the old Town Criers for the Milo Historical Society. The Town Crier was Milo’s weekly newspaper from mid-1962 up to the late 1990′s (I believe). When the editor passed away, the entire collection of papers was left to the Milo Historical Society.
So far, I have scanned in the half a year of 1962 and all of 1963. I started in on 1964 today, scanned in the first issue, and realized that the next handfull were missing
I have issue 1, issue 8, issue 11, and then it skips to the mid-20′s. I need to find some people who might have these missing copies kicking around in a closet somewhere…..
If you’d like to see the issues I have scanned in so far, visit the Town Crier page on the Historical Society website!
Interesting Tidbit:
Squaw Mountain in Greenville opened in January of 1964! The Governor and several Senators were there.
Webcam go boom
by Sethen on Jul.26, 2010, under TRC
Seems my brand new Schoodic Webcam had some sort of issue last night around 2am
It just stopped uploading, and I can no longer access it remotely. I’ve got a feeling I didn’t get DynDNS setup correctly, and the IP changed…. But that wouldn’t explain why it stopped uploading…. I need to take an adventure out to the lake and see whats going on…
The Schoodic Lake Webcam is coming!

The new webcam is all ready to go. After all the fiascos with getting it together it works fine.
As soon as we get a nice day of weather, I’ll get it all installed and running. Cross your fingers for sun!
People…
by Sethen on Jul.19, 2010, under Rants, TRC
I setup this nifty system where people can upload and manage stuff on their own, right? Whole idea was to make less work for me seein as I’m not payed for TRC. Can people actually want to use this? Yes. I’ve got several people using it sucessfully. Except for one that sends me crap weekly. Can’t be bothered to do the work. They just rather email things to me.
Do people even realize the sheer amount of time and effort I put into TRC? Do they realize its all volunteer work and I’m not payed anything?

I guess it was supposed to have the stuff I’m missing in the box. They’re gonna send me another one that’ll be opened and inspected, and have me ship this one back. Blah….
