I’m very involved in researching my family’s genealogy.

So much Royalty!

by on Feb.07, 2011, under Genealogy

Worked again on the Fitch Genealogy book tonight.  I need a break though…  I’ve come to find alot of dates in the book that are wrong, names spelled incorectly, etc.  I can’t say too much, this book was printed back in the 80′s, and I’m sure more information is available now :) I’m cross-checking everything with Wikipedia to get dates, and names correct.  Right now, I’m back to William the Conqueror :D

Funny thing though…  In this line, I’m descended directly from William.  Going back up the Fitch tree, following the Fitch name, I can trace it to a man that’s listed as a “blood relative” of William the Conqueror :D

Silly Royalty

by on Feb.07, 2011, under Genealogy

Monarchs should have last names, I swear.  This is just a wild goose chase sometimes…  Like for instance, how am I supposed to enter Empress Matilda?  I have no clue…  Her father’s dynasty was Norman, so I put her in as Matilda Norman.  It looks weird, but hey, its how the other dang monarchs are entered.  Sigh.

Stumbling block

by on Feb.06, 2011, under Genealogy

Started working on the Fitch Genealogy book tonight.  Ran into a sort of issue… Not really sure how to enter Royalty into the system!  I’m on Edward I, King of England…  Here’s what I’ve got so far:

http://family.sethen.com/individual.php?pid=I1023&ged=family

I entered him as Edward I Plantagenet, King of England…  Anyone else know if thats right?  Or should it be different?  I found one similar website that had him listed as such… Plantagenet is his house, and his daughter was Joan Plantagenet, so I guess it works.

Genealogical Regrouping

by on Feb.06, 2011, under Genealogy

I need to regroup…  I’ve got a to do list a mile long, and can’t seem to figure out where to focus :(  It would help if I could find someone else in the family to help with this project… Its quite the amount of work!

Need to decide if I want to keep working with the new online info from my research, or back-track and start entering in the massive Fitch Genealogy book.  It might be time for a change.  I’ve spent the last few months, off and on, working on the Barden family; so it might be time to switch back to the Fitch family :)

This is ridiculous.

by on Jan.09, 2011, under Genealogy

I keep finding possible leads on Michael Dolan, my Irish immigrant ancestor who came from Ireland directly to Milo; and every stupid friggen website wants me to pay to access the information.  This is downright ridiculous!  How is anyone supposed to do genealogy research unless they’re friggen rich???

Looking for some help

by on Dec.22, 2010, under Genealogy

Anyone in the Barden or Fitch families want to help me out with some Genealogy work?  I’ve got a back-log of information from some distant families to enter into my system, and it just keeps stacking up.  I also want to enter the massive Fitch Genealogy book at some point….

Anyone interested in helping me out, I can show you what needs to be done. Its pretty simple, just straight-forward data entry really.  Let me know if you got some free time and wanna help out!!!

Genealogical Progress Goes Boink

by on Dec.18, 2010, under Genealogy

I spent most of the day working on family genealogy. It was very productive! I traced the Barden name back to the original Barden from England. William Barden, came to new england at the age of 14 as a servant, and earned his freedom at 21. Had 13 kids, right up to the age of 65!

I feel really accomplished to get back this far. I’ve got a lot of related people and families still to enter though.
