Official Picture of Me (2003)
My name is Seth Dolan Barden, and I was born and raised in Milo, Maine. I graduated from Penquis Valley High School in Milo in June 1998, and from the University of Maine at Farmington in May 2002 with a B.A. in Computer Science.

Interests

It's very obvious that I'm into computers. I like them so much I spent 4 years of college learning useless crap about them. In the summer, I like to fish and kayak, maybe even both at once.

Home & Work

I just recently moved to Bangor, where I now live with my friend Nick. I've known Nick since kindergarten, so its interesting to say the least. The saving grace is that we work opposite shifts, so during the week we hardly see each other. If we DID see each other every day, we would kill each other.

I work for the James W. Sewall Company in Old Town, where I've been for a year and half. My official position is "Mapping Technician" and I get paid to draw lines all night long. I work the second shift from 3:30pm to 12:00m, and I love it! My roommate also works there, but on the day shift.

My Different Hats

Three Rivers Community Alliance
I am the Director & Webmaster of the TRC Alliance, a project to promote the Greater Milo Area on the internet. I became involved in 1996, when I was still in high school and the project was formed. I became director in Spring of 2001, and have helped to bring it back from the dead. We have a community calendar, and tons of local information available online. Check it out! I'm very proud of the work we have all done on it.

WayFar Technologies
My friends and I have started up a new web design and hosting company. We all do web design work on the side, and figured we could do it cooperatively under one name. Check it out!

Llamas in Disguise / Baboon Zoo
For several years now, my brother and our friends have had a sketch comedy group. Originally known as Baboon Zoo, we are now known as Llamas in Disguise. Technically, we don't exist anymore, but a collection of the videos we produced is in my gallery.

Milo Historical Society
I have been involved with the historical society since I was in high school. I have been their webmaster for several years, and a trustee for two.

Community Concert Band
I have played trumpet in the Community Concert Band since I was in 8th Grade. The first few years, I played second trumpet, but I've been playing first since high school. The last few years, I've been privileged enough to be the Assistant Manager!

Penquis Valley Alumni Association
Last summer I helped to form an alumni association for my high school this is my second year as the Vice President of the group. Next summer will be my 10th year reunion. I can't believe its been so long!

Computers & Stuff

I own three computers of varying age and usefullness. Mother Brain is currently in use as my parents main computer, as their iMac sucks.

Computer Type Processor Memory Hard Drive Video
Mother Brain PowerPC G3 All-In-One 266 MHz G3 768 MB 30 GB ATI Rage II+, 4MB VRAM
Angmar PowerBook Aluminum G4 15" 1.25 GHz G4 1 GB 120 GB ATI Radeon 9700 Mobility, 128 MB VRAM
Angband Compaq Presario 5000 1.5 GHZ Pentium 4 256 MB 60 GB NVidia GeForce2 MX 100/200, 64 MB VRAM

Along with these computers, I also have an Epson Stylus C42UX Printer, an Epson Perfection 1650 Scanner, a Sony Cybershot DSC-S50 Digital Camera, and an Airport Extreme BaseStation. I'm hoping to have enough money saved up this spring so I can afford a brand new MacBook Pro!

Achievements

I graduated from Penquis Valley High School in 1998, 29 years after my father, who was in the first class of the high school. In May 2002, I graduated from the University of Maine of Farmington, with a B.A. in Computer Science, 29 years after my mother. Disturbing, isn't it?

The only achievements I can think of off the top of my head are the plaques on my wall - 7th Grade Spelling Bee Champion, and Second Honor Essayist (#4 out of 56) of my graduating class in high school.

While at college, I was involved in many things, ranging from the campus newspaper, "The Mainestream", to helping out with three Spring Flings (six including the three after I graduated), to being the President of the Computer Club for 2.5 years. As I graduated, I was given the title of "Dictator Pig for Life" which I still hold to this day.
